The Future Is Now: the National Center for RNA & Gene Therapy’s concluding PNRR event to take place in Rome on 2 April

April is just around the corner, and with it comes the final phase of the journey launched under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). To celebrate the achievements made over these years of activity and to open a meaningful discussion on the future of biomedical research in Italy, the National Center for RNA & Gene Therapy, in collaboration with the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital, is organizing its concluding event:

“The Future Is Now. From Achieved Milestones to New Horizons with RNA-Based Medicines and Gene Therapy”

The event will take place on Thursday, 2 April 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Valerio Nobili Auditorium of the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital, located at Viale Ferdinando Baldelli 38, Rome, and will be available both in person and via live streaming.

This initiative represents a moment of particular institutional and scientific significance, designed to highlight the major achievements reached by the National Center within the framework of the PNRR project, which is now approaching its conclusion. It will also provide an important opportunity to reflect on the contribution these activities have made to Italy’s national system of research, innovation, and translational medicine, while also exploring the new directions that lie ahead for the sector in the post-PNRR phase.

Throughout the morning, discussions will focus on key topics shaping the future of healthcare and biomedical research, starting from the results achieved in the development of personalized therapies, RNA-based medicines, and gene therapy, and expanding into a broader reflection on the challenges that await the scientific, academic, clinical, and industrial communities in the years to come.

The programme will feature distinguished representatives from Italy’s scientific, institutional, and regulatory landscape, with contributions dedicated both to assessing the work carried out so far and to examining the future prospects of medical and scientific research. Special attention will be given to the final roundtable discussion, which will offer a space for dialogue on the opportunities, critical issues, and scenarios emerging in the aftermath of the PNRR, at a crucial time for consolidating the investments and expertise developed over these years.
