The World Health Forum Veneto 2025

17 March 2025, Padua – Several members of the National Center proudly participated in the second edition of the World Health Forum Veneto, held at the Padova Congress, where global health leaders, innovators, and policymakers convened to address urgent health challenges and explore the frontiers of medical science.

Chaired by Giorgio Palù, Emeritus Professor at the University of Padua, President of the Veneto Tissue Bank Foundation, and  National Center’s International Scientific Advisory Board member, the forum highlighted transformative technologies reshaping healthcare. Central to these discussions were advancements in genome sequencing, quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and RNA-based therapeutics, all pivotal in developing precision medicine and enhancing patient outcomes.

The conference focused on critical themes such as digital health, personalized medicine, public health resilience, and sustainable healthcare systems. Several National Center representatives contributed by chairing various sessions or offering presentations, including President Prof. Rosario Rizzuto, Spoke 3 Leader (Neurodegeneration) Prof. Stefano Gustincich, Supervisory Board Member Prof. Mauro Giacca, and International Scientific Advisory Board members Prof. Katherine High (CEO of RhyGaze) and Prof. Paula Cannon (University of Southern California Kent School of Medicine). Their expertise underscored the transformative potential of RNA-based interventions in addressing complex diseases and revolutionizing treatment paradigms

A key highlight of the forum was its emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration. Representatives from academia, industry, and government sectors came together to share insights, forge partnerships, and drive innovation in health practices. The event also showcased pioneering research and practical solutions aimed at addressing global health disparities, with a particular focus on the role of RNA technologies in advancing these efforts.

Speaking on Italy’s strength in bringing these technologies forward, Prof Gustincich shares “we are moving to SINEUP as programmable therapeutic platform thanks to the National Center.”

Participants departed with deeper insights into the latest health innovations and actionable strategies to implement in their respective fields, contributing to a healthier and more equitable future. The 2025 forum’s theme, “Well-Being and Precision Medicine,” reflected a commitment to exploring health in its broadest sense, considering environmental, physical, and nutritional determinants alongside technological advancements such as artificial intelligence in diagnostics and treatment. Ethical considerations surrounding patient data and the impact of these technologies on healthcare delivery were also key topics of interest.

As the National Center for Gene Therapy and Drugs based on RNA Technology, we remain committed to fostering international collaboration, pushing the boundaries of scientific discovery, and translating groundbreaking research into tangible health benefits. The World Health Forum Veneto 2025 represents not only a platform for dialogue but also a catalyst for advancing health sciences and improving lives worldwide.
