13 May 2026, Bologna – As part of R2I – Research to Innovate Italy 2026, the INSPIRE Morning Talk convenes key representatives of Italy’s National Research Centers for a high-level roundtable on the outcomes and future of PNRR-funded initiatives.
Moderated by Angelica Migliorisi (Radio 24), the session features institutional and scientific leaders including Roberto Santangelo (Abruzzo Region), Giselda Stella (Ministry of University and Research), and key representatives of the National Centers: Antonio Zoccoli (ICSC – HPC, Big Data and Quantum Computing), Gianmarco Montanari (MOST – Sustainable Mobility), Luigi Fiorentino (NBFC – National Biodiversity Future Center), Rosario Rizzuto (National Center for Gene Therapy and Drugs Based on RNA Technology), and Matteo Lorito (Agritech).
The discussion focuses on governance models, scientific achievements, and the impact of these “National Champions” on Italy’s research and innovation ecosystem. It also looks ahead to future priorities and the long-term value of post-PNRR investments, with a contribution by Riccardo Di Stefano (Confindustria).
Within this shared framework, Rizzuto’s and other representatives from National Centers contribute to a broader reflection on how coordinated national efforts can strengthen Italy’s scientific competitiveness and innovation capacity.
