Looking Towards the Future – National Center Scientific Congress

Naples 13 June 2025 – The National Center for Gene Therapy and Drugs based on RNA Technology will highlight the results of its first three years of activity at its first Scientific Congress held in Naples on June 16–17, 2025.

This two-day congress will highlight the Center’s tangible contributions to biotechnology research and the development of innovative therapeutic solutions aimed at shaping the future of medicine. It will also serve as a platform for dialogue and collaboration with the other four National Research Centers funded by the PNRR, promoting a unified vision for public research in Italy.

The opening session on Monday morning, which will be live-streamed and open to the public and press, includes a high-level roundtable discussion featuring the directors of the five National Centers, focusing on biodiversity, agricultural technology, sustainable mobility, high-performance computing, and advanced therapies. Although conducted in Italian, simultaneous English translation will be available for international attendees. This strategic conversation will offer a rare opportunity to explore the broader impact of public research as a driver of national innovation and development.

The event will also spotlight the Center’s commitment to education and technology, with the unveiling of the new Virtual Reality Laboratory at the PharmaTech Academy. This cutting-edge facility represents a major step forward in experiential learning and experimentation in the field of advanced therapies.

Attendees will also hear from renowned international scientists, including Prof. Adrian Krainer (Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory) and Prof. Paula Cannon (University of Southern California), who will deliver keynote addresses on the emerging frontiers of RNA-based medicine.

On the second day, the congress will feature panel discussions with members of the International Scientific Advisory Board, the Technical-Financial Committee, and industry partners, highlighting the role of public-private collaboration in driving scientific innovation.

This congress stands as a key moment of synthesis among research, institutions, and industry, with the goal of ensuring the Center’s continued impact beyond the PNRR framework, paving the way for the development of personalized and sustainable therapies for the future.
