PharmaTech Academy Launches Its Third Edition During Biotech Week 2025

6 October 2025, Naples – The Department of Pharmacy at the University of Naples Federico II officially inaugurated the Third Edition of the PharmaTech Academy today at the Scampia Campus, welcoming 32 new students to its high-level training program designed to strengthen expertise in biotechnology and pharmaceutical technologies.

This year’s inauguration takes place within the framework of Biotech Week 2025, the prestigious international initiative dedicated to celebrating and promoting biotechnology across all its applications.

During the opening ceremony, the PharmaTech Academy presented the program’s structure and objectives, highlighting new features introduced thanks to continuous feedback from industry partners and alumni from previous editions.
Aimed at master’s graduates, the course represents a best-practice model of collaboration between academia, institutions, and industry, with the goal of advancing new therapeutic technologies in Italy—particularly in Southern regions.

Speakers from academia, the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, and public institutions took part in the discussion, emphasizing the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration to accelerate technology transfer and develop strategic skills essential for the sector’s growth.

The inclusion of the PharmaTech Academy within the 13th edition of Biotech Week – held from 29 September to 6 October with more than 90 events across Italy – underscores the program’s national and international relevance.

Launched in Canada in 2003 and introduced in Europe in 2013, Biotech Week is coordinated in Italy by Assobiotec – Federchimica and showcases biotechnology in its many dimensions: from healthcare and diagnostics to agri-food, renewable energy, and environmental sustainability.

In Naples, the week’s program also features the BioPHARMAtech Village, an initiative that opens university spaces to high school students and the wider public, transforming the campus into an open-air science hub with interactive laboratories, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. The goal is to spark curiosity, promote scientific culture, and bring research closer to society.

With the launch of the PharmaTech Academy 2025–2026, the University of Naples Federico II once again confirms its role as a driving force in advanced training and innovation, fostering collaboration between research, industry, and society and contributing to the growth of a competitive and sustainable biotech ecosystem in Italy
