Italian Research Day in the World 2025: Italy and Japan Unite for a Future Powered by Science and Innovation

The ‘Science, Please’ Podcast– Discussing the Future of Pharmaceuticals

16 April 2025, Rome – On 22 April 2025, 193 countries will mark the 55th United Nations Earth Day, the world’s largest event dedicated to environmental awareness. Since its inception in 1970, more than one billion people have participated annually, thanks to a global network of over 200,000 partners.
Italy celebrates Earth Day with extraordinary enthusiasm, especially since 2016, when Pope Francis inaugurated the Villaggio per la Terra at Villa Borghese in Rome. This event has become a vibrant gathering space to display Italy’s natural and human heritage, while calling for global action against exploitative and unsustainable economic models.
This year, the National Center joins the Villaggio per la Terra with a dedicated stand from members of its Hub in Naples, representing PharmaTech Academy, highlighting innovation in sustainable pharmaceutical technologies and the advanced training it offers for the professionals of tomorrow.
Laura De Cantis, Junior Scientific Manager of the National Center, shared:
“We’re always excited to welcome visitors of all ages, but there’s something truly special about inspiring young minds. Introducing school-aged children to the groundbreaking fields of gene therapy and RNA-based medicine is both a joy and a privilege. Watching them explore DNA models and connect play with science—it’s a beautiful reminder of how curiosity today can shape the innovations of tomorrow.”
Andrea Panaro, Junior Innovation Manager of the National Center, added:
“It was fantastic to give visitors a hands-on glimpse into the future of science education. At PharmaTech Academy, they had the chance to experience cutting-edge technologies like VR headsets that simulate real laboratory procedures—bringing the lab to life in a fully immersive virtual environment.”
On April 12, Prof. Bruno Catalanotti spoke with Radio Vaticana, reflecting on the National Center’s mission and sharing how the PharmaTech Academy is helping build a healthier, more sustainable world—starting with education, innovation, and inclusion.
