Rosario Rizzuto Attends the 2025 Festival di Salute

10 October 2025, Padua – Now in its 6th edition, Padua’s Festival di Salute gathers leading scientists, Nobel laureates, and intellectuals to discuss the ongoing transformation of medicine that ranges from personalized therapies and digital health to the challenges of equality and diversity in global healthcare.

During a panel moderated by journalist Annalisa Cuzzocrea, Professor Rosario Rizzuto, President of the National Center for Gene Therapy and Drugs based on RNA Technology and Director of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Padua, surmised an outline of Europe’s role in the global changes in advancing medical innovation.

Rizzuto emphasized that while artificial intelligence accelerates research, it cannot replace human creativity and scientific curiosity. For it is those who continue to find the marvel of scientific research who become the driving forces behind breakthroughs such as monoclonal antibodies, which have now reinforced more than 200 approved therapies. He highlighted the need to protect and invest in basic research, describing it as “fragile yet essential” for the future of medicine.

Throughout the city center, visitors could participate in free health screenings for heart disease or receive obesity counseling through on-site diagnostic stations. Over four days, the Festival examines how genomic science, biostatistics, and new technologies are shaping a new model of precision medicine.

Reflecting the mission of the National Center, the theme of the 2025 Festival di Salute, Così diversi, così uguali (So Different, Yet So Alike), explores how to uphold universal scientific standards and ensure equal access to healthcare systems that are more effective, efficient, and sustainable.
